Robbie Williams on Miley Cyrus: 'The spotlight on her is too intense, it's rehab-making'

Take That hitmaker Robbie Williams has given his opinion on the resurgence of Miley Cyrus and her new style and attitude, and explained that there is a frightening amount of 'spotlight' on her that could be detrimental if she isn't strong enough to cope with it

The 'Angels' superstar reportedly told News Corp that he's concerned that Cyrus might struggle with the constant criticism and pressures of fame, much like he did in the earlier years of his impressive music career, and hopes that she won't be too influenced by the negativity:

"Miley's got the world talking and looking at her. And the spotlight that's now upon her is rehab-making. It has a detrimental effect on your psyche. I've had a similar light shine on my direction and it f***s you up. And it f***s you up for a long time."

"She's just a kid. She's a kid who looks as though she's rebelling against her father and rebelling against the industry that put her in a Hannah Montana-shaped box. She makes good pop records, she's got a nice body, she's got a beautiful face."

Williams added: "She's a good pop star. But I know that spotlight on her is too intense even for the brightest, most well-rounded people - they'd find it impossible to deal with let alone someone who's been a child star since they were three years old or whatever. God bless Miley."

Cyrus sparked controversy over the weekend when she lit up a marijuana joint on stage at the 2013 MTV EMAs and has been in and out of the press for months following her VMAs performance with Robin Thicke and 'Wrecking Ball' music video
