Robbie Williams stays at the top of UK albums chart with 'Swings Both Ways'

Last week’s Christmas No. 1 album by Robbie Williams has held on to the top spot for a second consecutive week.

‘Swings Both Ways’ originally debuted at No. 1 on November 24 and was also awarded the title of being the UK’s 1000th chart-topping album.

Williams returned to the top of the album chart after having been held off from No. 1 by One Direction with ‘Midnight Memories’.

The ‘Go Gentle’ singer managed to keep his Take That band mate Gary Barlow from toppling him this week as ‘Swings Both Ways’ has sold 91,000 copies in last seven days whilst Barlow’s ‘Since I Saw You Last’ shifted 79,000, landing him the No. 2 spot.

One Direction now sit at No. 3, Beyonce’s self-titled album has risen one place to No. 4 and Olly Murs’ ‘Right Place Right Time’ has fallen one spot to No. 5.

Re-entries to this week’s Top 40 albums chart include Emeli Sandé with ‘Our Version Of Events’ climbing 12 places to reach No. 31, The 1975’s eponymous debut is up 21 to No. 31 and Lorde’s ‘Royals’ up 19 to No. 33.
