Round Hill Music is thrilled to announce the signing of Rob Thomas to a worldwide publishing deal.

Of the announcement, Thomas commented, “I’m so excited to be a part of the Round Hill family. From the first time I met everyone there I could feel a passion for music and songwriting that is infectious. I’m really looking forward to seeing what we can accomplish together.”

Josh Gruss Founder and CEO of Round Hill Music said, “Rob Thomas is a superstar. A superstar songwriter, artist and human being. The whole team is proud he chose Round Hill as his publishing home and personally, I am proud to call him my friend”

For more than two decades, singer/songwriter Rob Thomas has been one of the brightest stars in the musical galaxy. Rob Thomas’ list of accolades and awards include multiple Grammy awards and 13 BMI awards. He has also been honored by the Songwriter Hall of Fame and was inducted into the South Carolina Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame. Thomas became the first-ever recipient of the prestigious Songwriters Hall of Fame Hal David Starlight Award created to recognize a composer in the early years of his or her career that has already made a lasting impact. He was also deemed “Songwriter of the Year” by both Billboard (two years in a row) and BMI. Most recently he was named to Billboard’s “Top 20 List Of Hot 100 Songwriters 2000-2011” at #5, and was the top-raking artist/songwriter on that list.

The multi-Grammy-Award winning artist began his career twenty-five years ago as frontman and primary composer for multi-platinum international supergroup Matchbox Twenty, a position he still holds today. With Matchbox, he led the band to multiplatinum success over the course of four albums and a string of No. 1 hits that include “Push,” “3AM,” “Bent,” “If You’re Gone,” and “Unwell.” Matchbox Twenty’s 12-times platinum debut Yourself or Someone Like You was honored with the RIAA’s very rare Diamond Award for sales in excess of ten million units.

In the midst of Matchbox’s success, Thomas branched out to team up with legendary guitarist Santana for 1999’s “Smooth,” which not only earned three Grammy Awards, but also held the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for 12 weeks and spent 58 total weeks on the chart. The song emerged as #1 song in Billboard’s Top Hot 100 Rock Songs” chart history and “#2 Hot 100 Song of All-Time”. It was also declared the all-time #1 song on Billboard’s “Adult Pop Songs” radio airplay chart and the #1 song of the Rock Era based on chart performance on Billboard’s Hot 100. It still holds the spot as the second most successful song of all time by Billboard. Thomas has also co-written with legends Mick Jagger, which lead to the #1 Matchbox Twenty single “Disease,” and Willie Nelson.

Never one to rest on his laurels, Rob Thomas began his solo career with 2005’s platinum-certified, #1 album…Something To Be. The album made history as the first album by a male artist from a rock or pop group to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 since the chart had debuted. Its follow-up Cradlesong cemented him as “the only male artist with multiple #1 hits at Adult 40,” while he tied P!nk for “most #1s by a solo artist in the chart’s history.” His next solo release, 2015’s The Great Unknown, was praised by the likes of Rolling Stone who celebrated Thomas as “still the consummate pop-rock craftsman who has been making it all sound so smooth for years.” Rob’s illustrious solo career has garnered classic hits like “Lonely No More,” “Her Diamonds,” “Ever The Same” and “Someday”. In 2019, Thomas released his fourth solo album, the critically-acclaimed Chip-Tooth Smile. Total record sales for Rob Thomas’ output exceed 80 million worldwide.

Thomas continues to tour the world as a solo artist and will returns to stages next summer with Matchbox Twenty for the Matchbox Twenty 2021 tour. The 54-date arena and amphitheater trek across North America kicks off at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut on July 16th with supporting act The Wallflowers.

In addition to his extraordinary career, Rob Thomas’ commitment to philanthropy remains as staunch as his commitment to music. In 2003, he and his wife, Marisol, started Sidewalk Angels Foundation, a New York-based, not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing critically needed funds and support to no-kill animal shelters and rescues. The foundation also supports a myriad of other causes, from childhood health and wellness to the fight against homelessness, reflecting the passion of the foundation’s co-founders to fight for the rights and fair treatment of those with no voice. To date the foundation has raised millions of dollars.
