CANADA'S MULHOLLAND DRIVE LAND ON UK SHORES TO RELEASE DEBUT SINGLE

Star-spawning Canada exports the next generation of real-music talent to UK shores with the debut, blues-flecked rock sound of Mulholland Drive

I love what you’re doing…I pass my music baton onto you.”

- The late great rock/Blues legend, Jeff Healey

Justin Bieber, Bryan Adams, Drake, Celine Dion, Alanis Morissette …….the list of Canadian artists who’ve made an indelible mark on the global music scene is endless. And the Canadian tidal wave has no intention of turning as their new, hot musical export hits UK shores this summer in the form of Mulholland Drive. Delivering a unique style of fresh-cut ‘real’ music to Great Britain (ahead of any other territory), Mulholland Drive releases their debut single, ‘The Other Side’ on July 22. The brain-child of Luke Mulholland (a child musical phenomena in his own right, having performed live with Bon Jovi when he was just 16 years of age!), Mulholland Drive sets the stage for the return of real, blues-flecked rock music from a fresh and invigorated young generation of musicians.

Everything about Mulholland Drive is REAL – this is raw, honest music, stripped back to basics and delivered through the keen musicianship of a young generation of talent. Created by Canadian born Luke Mulholland, the Mulholland Drive project plucks and teases the absolute cream of our timeless rock and blues scene and repackages it into a sound that young audiences are hungry for. Built on a solid platform of naked guitar riffs and punchy drums, ‘The Other Side’ sees Mulholland’s debut collaboration with producer Peter Stengaard; a relationship which Mulholland compares as his ‘George Martin to The Beatles’. Showcasing Luke’s distinctive vocals, this original penning of ‘The Other Side’ traverses time and generation, resonating across all audience sectors – just how real music should be.

At just 27, Luke Mulholland defies his tender years with over half of his life spent at the top of his profession; writing tracks and performing to audiences of thousands from the age of just 14. The sound of Mulholland Drive is semi-biographical, a storybook of Luke’s struggles and redemption, mapped out in musical masterpieces. Hailed by the late great blues legend, Jeff Healy as a ‘musical phenomena’, Luke Mulholland carries the baton passed onto him by Healy days before he passed away. Bringing the talent of Mulholland onto the global stage was Healey’s ambition, currently being fulfilled by Healy’s band mate and drummer, Tom Stephen, who is now manager of Mulholland Drive.

Luke Mulholland’s odyssey began at the age of 14 when he started performing at Healey’s, the music home of Canadian guitar legend Jeff Healey. Impressed with Luke’s talent, Jeff left the club door open, giving Luke the opportunity to spotlight with the best of Canadian rock including, among others; April Wine, Goddo, Trooper and Pat Travers. This career chapter concluded with a bang when, at the age of 16, Luke won the Q107 rock song contest grand prize – opening for Bon Jovi in front of 18,000 people at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.

By the time he hit college years, attending Boston’s Berklee College of Music, Luke formed ‘The Luke Mulholland Band’, playing hundreds of gigs both as headliners and openers for rock gods like Carlos Santana, Blues Traveler, Blue Oyster Cult, Johnny Winter and Marshall Tucker Band to name a few. The biggest opportunity was a major tour of the Northeastern and Midwestern US opening for Dickey Betts, co-founder of The Allman Brothers Band, with whom Luke would routinely jam on stage. While Luke was still earning his college degree, the band was also nominated for Best Blues-Rock Act at the 2009 Boston Music Awards.

2012 – Luke now a music college graduate – saw this young star heading to Los Angeles, California. He continued to play countless shows with ‘The Luke Mulholland Band’, landed two songs in Sony’s major motion picture Heaven is for Real, and sold jingles for commercials while steadily working as a session guitarist. Luke quickly noticed a trend in pop music emerging, where the guitar was returning to its prominence in well-written songs. Inspired by this, he began to combine the feel of the pop charts with his own unique, classic, guitar-rock infusion.

That POP-inspired, classic yet distinct sound now comes to UK shores for the first time ever and is sure to meet public demand.  Keeping it real and kicking out hard – the UK welcomes MULHOLLAND DRIVE!

The debut single ‘The Other Side’ is released on Castlehill Records via Right Track/Universal on July 22.
