NINA SCHOFIELD UNVEILS THE ANTHEM FOR  LEARN TO PLAY DAY 2017

In partnership with Yamaha Music London, UK singer/songwriter announces pop anthem for Learn To Play Day 2017 as well as being chosen as the fresh faced ambassador for the charity

Highly acclaimed UK singer/songwriter, Nina Schofield, has been commissioned by Yamaha Music London to be the face and voice of this year’s national Learn To Play Day, releasing the self-penned anthem ‘Beat Another Rhythm’ in the UK on 7 July. Learn To Play Day was created by the Music For All charity as a UK wide event, giving everyone across the nation a chance to have a free taster lesson on a musical instrument as a way of introducing the joy of music into their lives.  A classically trained multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter and music teacher with pop success across the world, Nina Schofield was an obvious choice to write and perform the 2017 anthem – a fresh pop face bringing music to the masses.

Nina Schofield will be personally hosting two live and free music workshops for kids at Yamaha Music London, Soho, during Learn To Play Day (23 & 24 June).  During the sessions, Nina will demonstrate the role of instruments in pop songs and children will be given the chance to record and appear in the live acoustic music video for ‘Beat Another Rhythm’

‘Beat Another Rhythm’ is an upbeat pop track bursting with confidence and musical vibrancy.  Written by Nina Schofield specifically for Learn to Play Day, the song layers Nina’s divine vocals across tiers of drums, keyboards and strings, demonstrating how instrumentation on a song can change its shape and dimension. The track is a depiction of musical liberation, how music can help you break free from whatever ties you down, using the beat to help you find a new direction.

I’m delighted to have been chosen as the face and voice of Yamaha Music London’s Learn To Play Day activities,” comments Nina Schofield, “Music brings me joy every day and learning to play an instrument changed my life in so many positive ways. I want to share that with as many young people as possible during this Learn to Play weekend.”

Nina Schofield first stamped her mark on the musical map when she scooped a No.4 iTunes chart hit.  Nominations followed for Best Female Artist on both sides of the Atlantic (2014’s Best of British Music Awards and Best Female Vocal Artist in the Hollywood Music in Media Awards 2014), as did vocals alongside Emma Bunton on the national ad campaign for the Channel 5 show ‘Don’t Stop Believing’, live appearances at the Montreux Jazz Festival (sharing the bill with the likes of The Black Eyed Peas, Jeff Beck, Gnarls Barkley and Lily Allen), an enviable dance-floor following with her featured vocals on Aurosonic & Frainbreeze’s ‘Lift You Up’ track and being head-hunted by Dutch pop/RnB super band, Romeo, to join them on their sell out come-back show.  Added to which, she co-wrote and co-worked with Oscar, Grammy and Golden Globe winners and nominees with a striking list of names such as Morrisey’s Richard Niles, Gabrielle Aplin’s Tom Wilding, Usher’s Angelo Valentino and Orbital’s Lloyd Perrin. Nina was chosen as the anthem for World Voice Day 2016 and her debut album ‘Shapes’ was received last summer to high critical acclaim.

Now the multi-talented performer joins forces with Yamaha Music London to lead music lovers through the wonderful experience of Learn To Play Day.  Join Nina on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 June for a live workshop where you will experience how learning to play an instrument can change the entire shape of a song.  You may just be invited to record a live video with her too!
