VILE ASSEMBLY MAKE THEIR MUSIC DEBUT TO ADDRESS HOMELESSNESS

UK singer/song-writing trio spark heated-debate with the release of their debut single & EP about the horror of homelessness, with a bold debut album planned for this Autumn

Debut British punk-rock band, Vile Assembly, were created solely to be the whistle-blowers on unjust society; their purpose to say what needs to be said through the universally understood medium of music.  The band was created following a fortuitous meeting between three lifelong friends in a New York café, who decided that enough was enough and the troubles of the world needed to be voiced.  Their debut single, ‘Suicide Feast’, released on 28 July, delivers the fruits of their musical toil and carefully considered lyrical craftsmanship and comes from their debut EP, ‘Elephant In The Room’ released on the same day. Vile Assembly have something to say and with their bold, beat-driven, brazen melodic style, they defy you not to take notice!

The debut single, ‘Suicide Feast’, attaches desperate lyrics to a catchy punchy poppy song, allowing audiences to glean from it as much as they can personally digest; it can be a simple catchy song to some, whilst others will instantly recognise the strong delivery of a compelling message.  ‘Suicide Feast’ depicts society’s desensitisation to the mammoth homeless problem on our streets. The stark, cutting lyrics throw a blinding spotlight onto the evil corporations who amount wealth through our ignorance and play on our assumption and fear that the rich are the mighty and the powerful.  ‘Suicide Feast’ instantly took on a power and life of its own.  Without any radio promo help, the track worked its was across radio stations globally and has already garnered play across France, Italy, Belgium, Germany, Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Canada and all over the U.K.  BBC Radio 6’s Tom Robinson championed the song saying, "The instant I heard Suicide Feast I absolutely had to play it, its musical intent you just can't fake".

It all began 3 years ago when fate dealt its hand in a small café in New York City. Three lifelong friends embraced an evening of reminiscence and found themselves locked in a united agreement that something had to be done about our inhumane ignorance of world issues.  Although the friends, Paul Mason, Mark Webb and Mark Wainwright, had owned a music studio in Liverpool for two-decades, they’d never even contemplated making music of their own until that fateful day, until the avid conversation between them spurred on the conception of Vile Assembly.

The seeds of Vile Assembly’s ethos were planted over two decades ago, but lay dormant, waiting for the right time and agenda for their opinions to find a voice.  A vocation to be a poet, Paul Mason (the band’s lyricist and vocalist) found everything that happened in the world as vile.  Out of choice, he opted to live on the streets of Liverpool for a month so that he could experience destitution first hand. With no gap or respite, he repeated the experience in San Diego.  The result was horrendous, but he inspired a batch of poems, the main being ‘The Lonely Tramp In Liverpool’.  The poem was written from a grass-roots street level, a first- person view of what life on the street was like.  In 1995, the poem led to Paul’s induction as the International Merited Poet of the Year in Washington, with the poem being read out by Johnny Cash.  His feelings expressed, Paul continued writing in private, but got swept away with the rigours of everyday life, working with the two Marks to run their music studio and other businesses.  Many big names passed through their studio in Liverpool including INXS, Beverley Knight, The Virgin Marys, Kids On Bridges, Shea Seager (to name a few), but never once did the boys ever contemplate making music of their own.

…..Until they decided that enough was enough and that someone (them) needed to stand up and shout in the defence of those without a voice. Music seemed the natural channel for that voice, life took a sharp tangent –Vile Assembly were born.

Listen, absorb and make change – welcome Vile Assembly!

The debut single, ‘Suicide Feast’ is released on Vial Records on 28 July
