Spring-boarding off the back of his hugely successful tour of S.America at the end of 2019, highly acclaimed rock/indie, singer-songwriter, FREEMAN*, bounds into 2020 with a fistful of indie energy, as he announces the release of his new single, ‘London Nights’, out 28 February; ahead of his sophomore album, Love, released this summer.
Plus, with the ink still wet on his new label signing with Right Track/Universal, a 26-date tour of China planned for the Spring, a summer tour in Cuba, Brazil and Mexico, via India, a cameo appearance in the hit TV show ‘The Real Housewives of South Africa’, AND a world-record break in the plans; Freeman dives into the new decade proving that he intends to stamp an indelible print on the global music scene.
The forthcoming album recalls themes of the 60s and 70s free-love movement, encapsulating the bittersweet nature of romance and heartbreak. The first single, hand-picked by Freeman from the collection is, ‘London Nights’, which melodically fuses nostalgia with the present, marrying retro vibes with modern edges.
“Whether he’s channeling Jagger, Dylan, Petty, Bowie, or whoever; he’s doing it damn well” (Alternative Addiction), the lyrics follow the narrative of feeling isolated and alone in a city filled with people, until the perfect person comes around to help ease the pain.
In 2018, FREEMAN released his debut album Truth, which was recorded live at vintage studio Eastcote using a tape and analogue set up, adding to FREEMAN’s authentically classic sound. Now, with a string of global and European tours afoot and his best album to date on the precipice of release (out July 2020), Freeman is back – and he means business!
