Jake Shears admits he wouldn’t have lasted long on a TV talent show

Scissor Sisters frontman Jake Shears has admitted that he wouldn’t have lasted long if he’d used the TV talent show as a route to success.

The 33-year-old told the Metro that he doesn’t think he’d be the right kind of contestant when asked if he would have considered competing in the likes of The Voice and The X-Factor had the band not secured a record deal:

“I’m not that kind of a singer. I’m a pretty good singer but I consider myself more of an all-in-one singer/dancer type.

"There’s more to it than singing with me. I don’t think I would have lasted long on a talent show."

The Arizona-born singer, whose band releases fourth album, 'Magic Hour,' next week, also went onto reveal how proud he is to still be part of such a tight-knit group of performers:

“It’s amazing to watch your relationships and interpersonal workings change. We deal with each other differently to how we did ten years ago.

“We have an amazing relationship and love each other and have fun, which is a feat for a band after a length of time together. We know each other so well, we know how to push each others’ buttons but the nice part is that we don’t do that any more.”
