Scissor Sisters star appeals for end of LGBT hate in South Africa

Ana Matronic of the Scissor Sisters has shot a short emotional video for Amnesty International's Write for Rights letter writing campaign, in which she calls for an end to violence against lesbian women.

In the clip, the 'Let's Have A Kiki' songstress can be heard talking about 24-year-old lesbian activist Noxolo Nogwaza, who in 2011 was raped, beaten and stabbed to death in South Africa because of her sexuality.

Matronic discusses the importance of acceptance and equality while recalling her own experiences of growing up in an 'eccentric household':

"It is my dream of dreams to have everyone in the world be unafraid to be who they truly are and are able to express themselves. I believe we should accept people for who they are. One woman, Noxolo Nogwaza, a 24-year-old lesbian gay rights activist, was raped, beaten and stabbed to death for believing the same thing."
