Shawn Mendes and The Weeknd win big at the Canadian Radio Music Awards

The winners of the 19th annual Canadian Radio Music Awards were announced last night and heartthrob Shawn Mendes received a prize.

The talented young singer-songwriter, who is currently on his world tour, won the Sennheiser Chart Topper Award for his hit single 'Stitches'.

The Weeknd was also successful at the ceremony in Toronto as he picked up the SOCAN Song of the Year honours for 'Can't Feel My Face,' as well as the Fans Choice Award, beating the likes of Mendes and Justin Bieber to the title. Alessia Cara took home the award for Best New Artist: CHR.

Mendes, meanwhile, recently opened up about the new music he's been working on and confirmed that it's likely to be released in the autumn: "After we finish in Europe, we’re going to head to America to do the big American tour, and then release a new single and the new album in September."
