Shawn Mendes has landed his second US No.1 album.

The 18-year-old singer's new effort 'Illuminate' sold 145,000 equivalent album units in its first week on sale.

The Canadian's debut effort 'Handwritten' also topped the Billboard 200 last year.

Over 120,000 of Mendes' 'Illuminate' sales came via traditional album sales - his best sales week yet in the US.

Only four other artists have bagged two No.1 albums in the US by the age of 18.

They are Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Hilary Duff and LeAnn Rimes.

Drake meanwhile dropped to No.2 on the Billboard chart with 'Views', while the Suicide Squad soundtrack stayed put at No.3.
