Shayne Ward has revealed that he would like to emulate Cheryl Cole and become a judge on the X Factor.

The singer won the series in 2005 and is using Cole, who appeared on Popstars: The Rivals as a singer and as a judge on the X Factor, as a blueprint for his potential return to the show.

Ward told The Sun that he would love to feature as a judge on the X Factor because he has similarly gone through the rigours of a TV talent show. The Dancing On Ice star said:

"When Cheryl joined X Factor lots of people said, 'Why is she on it?' But she had a right to be there. She went through a talent show. Like Cheryl, I went on the show, competed, I won and I have a valuable opinion. That is why she was so great on the show - because people knew she had a right to say what she said."

He added: Bring me and Sharon back - we'll just be flirting all the time. I do miss Sharon. When I did the show people were just waiting for our banter."
