Snoop Dogg says he feels like Popeye when he smokes marijuana.

The rapper has a long association with the drug and he told the Observer that it is a help - not a hindrance - when it comes to productivity.

The US star said: "The weed doesn't take away; it's an attribute, an accolade. It's like Popeye. You know Popeye the Sailor Man?

"He'd squeeze that can and pop that spinach and go into work mode. That's what this is."

Speaking, however, about how he spends his down-time, Snoop Dogg added:

"Probably [like] an old man. I watch the same s**t on TV. I like listening to old school music. I like to relax. I like to just chill. I'm just like an old man, in a rocking chair, enjoying the s**t that I like to enjoy."
