Snow Patrol dropped their much-anticipated new single, ‘Called Out In The Dark’, today (July 22).

The song is the first single from their upcoming album and will be released officially on September 4.

The band recorded the song in Topanga Canyon in Los Angeles, with long-time producer Jackknife Lee. Lee has worked on their previous three albums, including 2008’s ‘A Hundred Million Suns’.

Drummer Jonny Queen said he and his bandmates have been inspired by the outdoors and explained, “these days, it's better to be out somewhere in the open, by the sea, he explained. I live by the sea in Ireland and I find that's the most inspiring time, sitting with a guitar on the beach, but we write on the tourbus, in dressing rooms, in the studio and in phone boxes, because no one is using them because everyone has mobile phones.”
