Snow Patrol given late curfew for Hyde Park Olympic concert

Rockers Snow Patrol have been granted a late curfew for their upcoming Hyde Park concert as it coincides with the opening ceremony for the 2012 London Olympic Games.

The BT London Live gig, which is set to take place on July 27, will also feature performances from the likes of Duran Duran and Stereophonics. The 'Chasing Cars' hitmakers will take the stage at 11.10pm and are set to play into the early hours of Saturday morning.

Licensing chairman of Westminster City Council, Audrey Lewis, explained the special circumstances: "The opening night of the Olympics is clearly an exceptional evening and the Hyde Park show on Friday is timed to run around the opening ceremony of the Olympics."

"It is not a case of a straightforward concert night at Hyde Park. We took that into consideration when granting the application."

"It is clearly different from commercial shows that run throughout other parts of the year."
