Sony Music Entertainment Latin-Iberia announced today a new partnership with WK Records (WKR), the record label founded by Walter Kolm, CEO and founder of WK Entertainment (WKE).

This investment supports the future growth of WKR’s repertoire and expands the breadth and depth of opportunities available for Latin music artists. WKR artists include reggaeton star Alex Rose, GRAMMY® nominated and Latin GRAMMY® winning producer/artist Foreign Teck, Singer, songwriter and actress Emilia, Argentine trap star Seven Kayne, and viral sensation Cheo Gallego, with more signings to be revealed soon.

“We have an incredible relationship with the entire WK family,” said Afo Verde, Chairman and CEO, Sony Music Latin-Iberia. “This was a natural next step for us, and we’re excited to work with WK Records to launch a whole new generation of international superstars together.”

“This partnership is personally meaningful to me because of the trust and admiration that I have for Rob Stringer, Afo and Sony Music,” said Walter Kolm, CEO, WK Entertainment. “It confirms our shared vision to continue to lead and impact the Latin music industry with an unparalleled world-wide magnitude, as we combine our strengths and build an unprecedented alliance.”

“We are delighted to join Sony Music Latin-Iberia in this new chapter for WK Records,” added Horacio Rodriguez, Head of Music, WK Entertainment and CEO, WK Records. “Both groups have enjoyed a rewarding relationship through the years and this partnership will be the key driving force behind WK Records ambition to become one of the top Latin music companies in the world.”

WKR is led up by CEO and Head of Music at WKE, Horacio Rodriguez, where the label includes a Pop and Urban Division led by WKR General Manager and Co-Founder, Oscar Guitián, and a regional Mexican division led by Alberto De León.

Rodriguez has been in his role at WKR/WKE since August last year. Previously he spent over 15 years at Universal Music Latin Entertainment, most recently serving as Senior Vice President, Marketing. He has worked alongside and successfully helped the careers of some of today’s biggest global Latin music superstars, including Karol G, J Balvin, Sebastian Yatra and Luis Fonsi among many others. Based in Miami, the Chilean born executive has been recognized by Billboard in both their ‘30 Under 30’ and ‘40 Under 40’ lists.

Guitián Jr. has emerged as one of the most influential and high-profile young names in Latin music. The 31-year-old founded independent label and distributor, NVO Music, while still in law school [and the record label has maintained its Top 10 label status under InGrooves].

De León is a GRAMMY® and Latin GRAMMY®-nominated music producer, composer, and record label executive.
