PSYCHIC ILLS share 2-part film for "Baby" & "Another Change"

European festival dates forthcoming

NY psych duo announced Leeds, Liverpool, Glasgow & London dates. Share two-part film for tracks “Baby” and “Another Change”

“Often irresistible, a perfect match of tone and tunefulness”

“Wonderful morphine blues from drone-laced New Yorkers…A terrific laidback, sleep headed dose of minor key psychedelia”

– UNCUT

“Playing like they’ve just OD’d and are conjouring the audience in a pre-death neural circus, they slide a glorious fraction out in the jammed sections, keeping the rest ticking over in the mode of distilled, hi-fidelity understatement they’ve honed”

- Loud & Quiet

Following a successful UK tour culminating in two packed-out nights at London's Lexington in June,
Psychic Ills have confirmed a return to the UK this winter. They have also shared a two-part film for their recent album Inner Journey Out tracks “Baby” and Another Change. With the first part - Baby - premiering last week via Nowness, the second half of the story arc arrives today with the Another Change” video.

Directed by NY based filmaker Jason Evans for Psychic Ills' the pair of films were shot around New York and at Cowtown Rodeo in New Jersey. They form a portrait of a young man longing for something he can connect with, a desire that becomes clear by the end of the second film. Lead actor John Reddy grew up as a rodeo rider in Pine Ridge Reservation, South Dakota, where he still lives.

Of the films, Evans says “There were certain visual ideas I tried to incorporate. Listening to "Baby" and "Another Change" on repeat, I knew I wanted to draw on the 70s New Hollywood aesthetic of films shot with long zoom lenses. It's a softer look that allowed us to mix voyeuristic moments, set in real environments, with more private, reflective moments. There's a real feeling of longing to the album, not just for love, but a longing to be understood and accepted. The story I built out is about a kid who's a bit of an outsider, someone out of synch with his environment. Johnny was perfect in the role, so much of how he communicates is non-verbal.”

Psychic Ills’ new album Inner Journey Out is out now via Sacred Bones Records on 2xLP/ CD, available from the Sacred Bones web site and Bandcamp / iTunes.
