A GRAVE WITH NO NAME shares instrumental new LP 'Pocketknife' online in full!
Album 'Wooden Mask' out now via Forged Artifacts. London-based singer-songwriter shares suprise instrumental new album as a companion to his latest LP
Today London based singer/songwriter A Grave With No Name, aka, Alexander Shields is sharing his new instrumental LP 'Pocketknife' online in full.
‘Pocketknife’ is the second full-length project to be released by A Grave With No Name in 2016, following on from ‘Wooden Mask’ earlier in August. Where that studio-recorded collection highlighted Shields’ considerable songwriting talents, ‘Pocketknife’ presents 30 minutes of wordless ambient composition; acting as companion piece and epilogue to its stripped-to-the-bone predecessor.

Recorded at home using hardware and edited down to tape from hours of improvised material, ‘Pocketknife’ is awash with distressed drones and textures. Daubed with wraithlike curls of atmosphere, the album finds Shields functioning as practitioner, reaching for a transcendent spirit world in order to channel its energies into this one. The record was inspired by short story called ’The Charlatan' by writer/musician William Cody Watson, which can be read online here.
‘Pocketknife’ will be self-released as a limited edition cassette, and is available as a name your price download directly from Shields’ Bandcamp page.
