With John Carpenter currently on tour in the UK, playing Newcastle, Glasgow and Manchester this week (details below), Sacred Bones are set to release the soundtrack for the new David Gordon Green directed 'Halloween' film this Friday, October 19th. It features an all new score composed and performed by John Carpenter alongside his collaborators from his three recent solo albums, Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies.

To coincide with the impending release, the label have announced an impending physical release of Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross’ 2017 version of the iconic "Halloween" theme, due for release on 12" vinyl on October 26th.

Upon its digital release last year Reznor stated: "I clearly remember my friends and I at 13 years old conning our parents into letting us see Halloween when it came out in 1978. We left the theater forever changed. We were damaged and scarred, with the shit genuinely scared out of us and that theme stuck firmly in our heads. John Carpenter, it's your fault that I turned out the way I did."

Reznor & Ross' recorded their homage to one of horror’s greatest anthems from scratch and it got the seal of approval from the man himself. John Carpenter reacted to their recording saying: “Moody and dark, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross’ version of HALLOWEEN does amazing justice to the original. I’m impressed."

Listen to “Halloween (Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross version)” below:

The new soundtrack pays homage to the classic 'Halloween' score that Carpenter composed and recorded in 1978, when he forever changed the course of horror cinema and synthesizer music with his low-budget masterpiece. Several new versions of the iconic main theme serve as the pulse of Green's film, its familiar 5/4 refrain stabbing through the soundtrack like the Shape's knife. The rest of the soundtrack is equally enthralling, incorporating everything from atmospheric synth whooshes to eerie piano-driven pieces to skittering electronic percussion.

The band are currently on a European tour in support of the new soundtrack and other recent releases. For the live shows Carpenter is joined by a stellar band, comprised of his son Cody Carpenter on synthesizer, his godson Daniel Davies on guitar, John Spiker on bass, John Konesky on guitar, and Scott Seiver on drums.

John Carpenter tour dates:
Oct 18: Newcastle, UK @ Tyne Theatre

Oct 19: Glasgow, UK @ Barrowlands
Oct 21: Manchester, UK @ Albert Hall

Oct 31: Los Angeles, US @ Palladium
