Stereophonics announce they’ve parted ways with drummer

Stereophonics have announced that they’ve parted ways with drummer Javier Weyler.

The Argentinian-born musician, who replaced the Welsh outfit’s original sticksman, Stuart Cable, in 2005, was confirmed to have left the group in a statement posted by frontman Kelly Jones and bassist Richard Jones on their Facebook page last night. Stuart Cable died in June 2010.

It read: "We wanted to let you know Javier and the band will no longer be working together. The band enjoyed playing with Javier over the last 8 years and his company was enjoyed by everyone in the Stereophonics family.

"We wish Javier every success going forward in his new creative endeavours and personal life. (Filling in temporarily for Javier on these next shows will be our friend Sam). We look forward to seeing you at the shows."

The ‘Dakota’ hit-makers are set to play a series of shows with their new line-up this week, ahead of their set at the BT London Live Olympics opening ceremony gig in Hyde Park on Friday.
