Susan Boyle will see her very own story brought to life in a new musical stage production called 'I Dreamed A Dream'.

Although the show isn't set to open until next year, 2012, both the cast and lead star who will portray Boyle have been confirmed.

Elaine C. Smith, who is best known for her role as Rab C Nesbitt's wife Mary, will step into the Britain's Got Talent singer's shoes and will take her performance all over the world. 

'I Dreamed A Dream' will kick off at Newcastle's Theatre Royal next March and will also be taken to Australia and America. Boyle said of the honour:

"I never thought my life story would end up on the stage but a lot has happened in two years and it is a very exciting prospect."

"I hope everyone enjoys the show and I promise there will be a few surprises along the way."

Producer, Michael Harrison, added that "it's got all the qualities of a fairytale, but with the added bonus of being absolutely true":

"She is an inspiring woman and her story is an excellent one to tell - someone with a raw talent who surprises the world and overturns all the odds to make a new life for herself."
