Silent Shore Selections: Madwave Interview

We are thrilled to present our official monthly podcast + interview “Silent Shore Selections” mixed by our own artists. Our first guest: Swiss hero Madwave. We have interviewed him. This is what he told us.

01. What got you into Trance music? At the age of 10 years and through my father (who owned a hi-fi and music store at this time), I discovered artists such like Jean-Michel Jarre or Vangelis, those who immediately marked me. A few years later, after exploring several types of electronic music such like techno, acid or even hardcore, I just had that feeling about trance. Only this style was able to transmit me so many emotions. Naturally, I’m still very attached to this day.

02. What are your influences? What really inspired me is first of all the synthpop years, but also the dance music from the 90’s and of course legendary trance producers as Paul van Dyk, Armin van Buuren, Benno De Goeij, Cosmic Gate or Torsten Stenzel.

03. Your collaboration with Space Raven “What We Used To Be” has been selected as the SSR300 Anthem. How did you feel with it? and what can the fans expect? As much for Nicolas (Space Raven) as for me, it’s an honor to be associated with this 300th release of Silent Shore Records, a fully respected label, supported by the greatest artists of the scene.

In my opinion, a trance hymn must be euphoric, it needs to communicate strong emotions and literally touch people. It was on this basis that “What We Used To Be” came into being a very epic theme and played on the piano, an instrument that Nico and I are very fond of. I hope the audience feel these good vibes while listen to this hymn!

04. Would you be interested in collaborating with someone in the future that you have never worked with before? Yes of course ! It is always very exciting to be able to work, experiment and collaborate with new artists and to share ideas, opinions and experiences. It helps to move forward and it makes production even more exciting!

05. What does the rest of 2017 have in store for Madwave? Well, my agenda is already almost full of gigs until the summer and in terms of productions, I am currently setting up a new studio, which takes quite a long time. But I was able to test several upcoming tracks during my recent gigs and the reactions were very positive, now it remains only to finish them 100%…
