Taylor Swift lands US No.1 single

Taylor Swift has bagged a No.1 single in the US.

The singer released her latest track 'Shake It Off' on August 18 as the first cut from her upcoming album '1989'.

Billboard have now confirmed that it sold 544,000 copies in its first week on sale to place it at No.1 on the Hot 100.

Radio and streaming figures have also contributed to Swift's powerful first week performance.

It is only Swift's second No.1 single in the States, with her first coming via 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together' in 2012.

Nicki Minaj is No.2 on the Hot 100 this week with her track 'Anaconda', whilst Meghan Trainor's 'All About That Bass' is No.3.

Sam Smith is No.4 with 'In The Lonely Hour' and Magic! drop from No.1 to No.5 with 'Rude'.

Swift meanwhile will release her new album '1989' on October 27.
