Taylor Swift says '1989' isn't a 'heartbreak record'

Taylor Swift has reaffirmed that her next album isn't about failed romances.

The singer is well-known for penning lyrics about love, but she confirmed to People that '1989' won't pivot on theme of heartbreak.

The US star said that the album - which will be released on October 27 - was written at a time when she wasn't in relationships.

Swift said: "When I'm deeply hurt, I usually respond by writing exactly how I feel in a song, but I just haven't been devastated in the last couple of years. I made the decision to spend time on my own and figure out who I am.

"Emotionally speaking, '1989' is not a heartbreak record. My music is derived from what's happening in my personal life, and I haven't had my heart broken."
