Taylor Swift: 'Music is valuable and should be consumed in albums'

Taylor Swift appeared to make reference to her recent spat with Spotify at the American Music Awards.

The singer has been embroiled in in discussion over the merits of streaming after pulling her back catalogue from Spotify.

She claimed that the platform didn't reward artists and songwriters fairly.

The US star seemed to touch on this subject whilst collecting the Dick Clark Award for Excellence prize at the AMAs on Sunday (November 23).

She said: "To the fans who went out and bought over a million copies of my last three albums...

"What you did by going out and investing in music and albums, you're saying that you believe what I believe - that music is valuable and should be consumed in albums, and albums should be consumed as art, and appreciated."

Swift removed her material from Spotify after the recent release of new album '1989'.
