Taylor Swift beats Beyoncé and Sia to International Female Solo Artist title at the BRITs

Tonight's BRIT Awards ceremony is in full swing at the O2 Arena in London and more winners have been crowned.

After Royal Blood won the British Band title and Ed Sheeran picked up Best British Male, singer-songwriter and nominee Sam Smith treated attendees and viewers to a stunning rendition of ‘Lay Me Down’.

The International Female Solo Artist trophy was then presented by F1 racing driver Lewis Hamilton and songstress Ellie Goulding, and the title was won by ‘Shake It Off’ beauty Taylor Swift. This marks her first ever BRIT Award and other nominees included Sia, Beyoncé, St. Vincent, and Lana Del Rey.

During her acceptance speech, she thanked Sam Smith, Cara Delevingne, Ellie Goulding and Ed Sheeran for being such fantastic friends to her: "I've been coming to England and playing shows for 8 years and this is my first BRIT Award! I'm so happy!"
