Taylor Swift comes in at No.1 on Vanity Fair's 2015 Powers That Be list

'Wildest Dreams' sensation Taylor Swift has topped Vanity Fair's The Powers That Be List for 2015, beating the likes of Hillary Clinton, who placed at No.9, and Jay Z and Beyoncé (No.21) to the coveted pole position.

Vanity Fair explained its decision to put Swift at the top of the list and released the following statement: "Swift isn’t merely the world’s favourite pop star, putting up sales numbers that are nearly unfathomable in the post-Napster age—she is also using her platform to make giant companies conform to her will."

The magazine added: "After pulling her catalogue off Spotify last year, Swift wrote an open letter to Apple asking it to pay artists during the free-trial period of its new music service. She posted the note on Tumblr on a Sunday and the company complied within hours."

Kim Kardashian and her husband Kanye West appear on the list at No.12 collectively, The Walt Disney Company's Bob Iger came in at No.2, and star athlete LeBron James finished at No.6.
