Taylor Swift has been selected as one of the co-chairs for next year’s Met Gala event.

The annual fashion party held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute has a changing theme each year based on the Spring exhibition on show.

The theme for the 2016 bash being held on May 2 is the relationship between fashion and technology to complement the upcoming exhibit 'Manus x Machine: Fashion in an age of technology'.

Taylor Swift will serve as a co-chair alongside actor Idris Elba, Apple chief designer Jonathan Ive and American Vogue editor Anna Wintour.

Honorary chairs will be designers Karl Lagerfeld, Miuccia Prada and Nicolas Ghesquiere.

Details are yet to be announced about music performers scheduled to entertain guests. The 2015 party held earlier this year saw Rihanna taking to the stage.
