A knife-weilding man who claimed to be Taylor Swift’s ex-boyfriend tried to break in to her home while she celebrated her birthday in the UK.

Jacob Kulke, 24, was arrested in the early hours of this morning for criminal trespassing at Swift’s Tennessee home in the U.S.

Luckily, the 23-year-old country pop singer was not at home but enjoying her birthday celebrations with One Direction boyfriend Harry Styles, 18.

Security staff at the singer’s house spotted Kulke and alerted police.

Officers managed to arrest him following a chase after Kulke jumped the fence at Belle Meade estate. He was taken into custody at about 2am.

When questioned at the scene, Kulke told police he was Swift's boyfriend and that he had taken a bus from Wisconsin in order to be with the star on her birthday, according to E! Entertainment.

He added that he had previously tried to make contact with the singer via a Twitter account under the name Jake Kulke.

He had tweeted a message to Swift that said: “Happy Birthday" along with a picture of Nashville, Tennessee.

Kulke, whose criminal record includes convictions for domestic abuse, battery and disorderly conduct, is being held at Davidson County Jail under a $10,000 bail payment. Watch Taylor Swift's 'I Knew You Were in Trouble' video below:
