Taylor Swift to star alongside Meryl Streep in ‘The Giver’

Singer Taylor Swift has been added to the star-studded cast of the upcoming film adaptation of ‘The Giver’.

The ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’ singer will be sharing the screen with Academy Award Winner Meryl Streep as well as ‘Crazy Heart’ actor Jeff Bridges, Brendon Thwaites and Katy Holmes.

‘The Giver’ will be adapted from the Lois Lowry children’s novel of the same name, with Thwaites playing the young lead who is chosen to inherit the position of Receiver of Memories and learning the ropes from Jeff Bridge’s title character.

The details of Swift’s part were tweeted by author Lowry, who said: "Taylor Swift will play Rosemary, a small but vital and intriguing role, in THE GIVER movie”. Swift's simple addition to the cast will be a huge talking point on her rather scarce acting resume. Swift has only acted in one feature film, ‘Valentine’s Day’ in 2010, for which she received mixed reviews. She has also made television appearances in shows ‘CSI: Crime Scene Investigation’ and ‘New Girl’.

Swift recently revealed that she was looking for the perfect script to really break into acting, telling E! News: "That's always something that's in the back of my mind, if the right thing came along. It would have to be something so amazing that it would take me away from writing songs and touring, which would have to be an incredible script." Check out Taylor Swift’s scenes from ‘Valentine’s Day’ below:
