The Horrors about their Barclaycard Mercury Music Prize nomination

Nigel and Dave from The Horrors spoke at the Barclaycard Mercury Music Prize Nominations press conference about their chances of winning the coveted prize:

Tom, "The odds were 25 to one, a week ago. I should’ve put a bet on myself as I think it’s a really good album and it does deserve it."

Josh, "Why are you gonna bet on yourself? I don’t understand why people are talking about betting on our album. Have a day at the dogs! It’s much more fun."

Tom, "But when you do win, it’s a double win."

Josh, "No. Don’t bet on music. Bet on the dogs. My uncle taught me a system once, and it’s foolproof. I can’t really tell you it, but it is foolproof."

Tom, "To be honest, I haven’t actually heard any of the albums that are nominated. There’s so much music out there and I’m working my way forwards from the start. I’m at 1989 at the moment so none of these albums are on my radar. But I think Bat For Lashes will win. She’s been in it before and if this is the year of the female solo artist then at least it should go to someone who really put the work in. I think it’s a lot more her record, as well."
