Richard Griffiths and Harry Magee, co-founders of legendary music management company Modest! Management, tonight became the first music managers to receive the highly prestigious Music Industry Trusts Award. Richard and Harry have between them spearheaded the careers of many successful artists across a four-decade timespan.

The annual awards dinner was hosted by pop music's favourite couple Rochelle and Marvin Humes, at the Grosvenor House Hotel, with legendary British film maker Richard Curtis presenting the award.

During the evening, the audience enjoyed performances by Katherine Jenkins, Alexis Ffench, Niall Horan, Olly Murs and Alison Moyet, who are all represented by Modest!. Niall Horan sang his latest single, "Nice To Meet Ya", followed by a stand-out performance of his biggest hit, "Slow Hands", with fellow X-Factor alumni and pop sensation Olly Murs.

A tribute film featuring contributions from such music icons as Little Mix, last year's MIT awards honouree Emma Banks, Harry Styles and Sharon & Ozzy Osbourne demonstrated the incredible contribution Richard and Harry have made to the music industry.

Attendees on the night included Niall Horan, Olly Murs, Katherine Jenkins, Alexis Ffrench, Alison Moyet, Rochelle and Marvin Humes, MNEK, Ironik, George Cosby, Mae Muller, Dylan, Miloš Karadaglić, Jamie Scott and Guy Barker.

Richard and Harry follow last year's honouree Emma Banks and join the ranks of previous recipients including Kylie Minogue OBE, Sir Lucian Grainge, Ahmet Ertegun, Simon Cowell, Michael Eavis CBE, Rob Stringer and Annie Lennox OBE.

Celebrating its 28th year, the Music Industry Trusts Award is consistently recognised as one of the true benchmarks of achievement in the UK music business, and continues to support worthy causes year after year. The MITs Award supports two key charities, the BRIT Trust and Nordoff Robbins.

In a remarkable career which has ranged across live music, music publishing, record labels and artist management, Richard Griffiths has worked with generation-defining talent in every genre and stars at every level, including AC/DC, Ultravox, Jane's Addiction, Oasis, Pearl Jam, Rage Against the Machine, Westlife, Enrique Iglesias and Linkin Park.

Similarly, in a career spanning music retail and music publishing as well as both independent and major labels, Harry Magee has worked with and for a succession of top British and American stars. Among them are Berlin, Lisa Stansfield, Whitney Houston, Yazz, Sting, Sheryl Crow, Westlife, Eurythmics and Foo Fighters.

With Griffiths returning to the UK and Magee leaving BMG, Modest! was formed in 2003. Perhaps its most successful year came in 2010 when Richard, Harry and the team started work with pop phenomenon One Direction. Brought together on the X Factor, and relatively unknown at the time, they came third, but went on to reach unprecedented international heights, selling over 75 million albums, playing worldwide sell-out stadium tours and breaking industry records in the process.

Modest! still represent Niall Horan and were at the helm of introducing his smash debut solo album Flicker in 2017, with them gearing up for the release of his upcoming sophomore album.

Over the years Modest! have also been involved in many charity events, directly raising over £4m in the process. These include The Horan & Rose Event which has raised over £1.5m, Cheryl's Trust raising £1m, The JLS Foundation raising £500k and One Direction raising over £1m in a single campaign. Indirectly, with their artists taking a significant part in other charity campaigns including Comic Relief, Sport Relief, Teenage Cancer Trust and Children in Need, this figure reaches several more millions of pounds.
