The Script on BRIT nomination: 'It's great but we're not expecting to win'

Irish rockers The Script have confessed that they're over the moon to have received a nomination for a BRIT Award, but because of the success and popularity of the other acts in their category they're doubtful of taking home the prize.

The lads are up for International Group, but will fight for the title against the likes of The Killers, The Black Keys, Alabama Shakes and fun., which is making them uncertain of the outcome despite being grateful of the recognition.

Frontman Danny O'Donoghue said: "We are not the type of band that wins, we've never been. I know I can't win the category. I've said, we've been going for four years without getting recognised, but you know, it's never stopped us and it's never taken us down a peg."

"We haven't won any awards and it doesn't bother us but being nominated but getting a pat on the back from the industry is great. It's a nice thing to be recognised by the BRITs but it's a tough category and stiff competition we are up against."

The 'For The First Time' hitmaker added: "We don't crave recognition at all, we've never craved recognition, but you know it's nice to get a nod from the industry."

The 2013 BRIT Awards will take place on February 20 at London's O2 Arena.
