The Script: "Don't give us a BRIT award"

The Script have admitted that they don't need a BRIT award.

The Irish band are nominated for Best International Group at the 2013 BRITs, which are due to be held on February 20 in London.

However, singer Danny O'Donoghue believes that the award should go to a younger band who need the boost of winning a BRIT. He told the Daily Star:

"I was talking to a lot of people when I was on holiday over Christmas and it seems the more awards you get the more complacent you start to become. We've always been pipped at it for whatever reason but it's never stopped us from going on and being successful."

He continued: "The stage we're at now - 'Hall of Fame' has gone platinum in America, we're No.1 in Germany - I say don't give us the award, give it to someone who is more deserving, a younger band who need the help. We don't need the help. Finally we've got a bit of recognition - but we're rocking and rolling with or without awards."
