The Script have cancelled two upcoming tour dates due to family illness.

The Irish group's axed shows were scheduled to take place at the Leeds Academy tonight (August 29) and Blackpool's Illuminations on Friday (August 30).

The dates will not be rescheduled and fans are encouraged to seek refunds from their point of purchase.

Confirming the cancellations, The Script said:

"It is with deepest regret that The Script have had to cancel both their Leeds Academy (29th Aug) & Blackpool Illuminations (30th Aug) shows due to a sudden serious family illness. The band deeply regret having to cancel at such short notice. Refunds will be available from the point of purchase. Script HQ."
