The Wanted's Siva: 'My solo material will surprise people'

Siva Kaneswaran, of The Wanted fame, has revealed that his new solo material is likely to come as a shock to his existing fans because it sounds different to what they're used to hearing from him.

During an interview with Extra TV, the star admitted that his career with the boyband just naturally came to an end although his passion for music didn't and he is now working on his own material:

"I think we just got sick of each other really... no, I'm kidding. I mean, we were together for four years and it just felt right. It came to a stage where we should go on a break and take a long holiday, some would say. We've got a few commitments to finish and then we're going to do our own thing afterwards."

"I'm just going to do my own thing and it'll be crazy to show everyone Siva. I'm working on a new sound - indie pop - and get really involved in the studio stuff. I'm going to mix it up and do my own thing, and surprise people."

Back in May, Kaneswaran admitted that now he has no fixed role to play in a group, he has the freedom to explore his own musical preferences professionally: "I just want to go crazy. I have to play a role in the band. I have to be 'that guy' and sing and do the usual dance, the air grabs. Now I can do what I want."
