The Wanted have joked that they might turn up in the nude at the upcoming MTV VMAs.

The ceremony takes place in Los Angeles on September 6 and the boyband are nominated in the Best New Artist category.

They're up against the likes of One Direction, Carly Rae Jepsen and fun. as they vie to win the gong.

Speaking to MTV News, Siva Kaneswaran said that they might dodge the question of what to wear to the event and just go in the buff. He said:

"I think we should just wear nothing. Like, win or lose, we should be totally naked."

Jay McGuiness added: "Anything for a bit of press."
