The Wanted star Max George has admitted that he was punched after admiring a man's facial hair.

Speaking to Fabulous magazine, the singer said that he stroked a fellow male's beard - but it didn't receive the best response, it seems.

The 'I Found You' man said that his attacker thought that he was tugging on his bead, ending up with George being lamped on the chin. He said:

"I got punched by some big dude with a beard, because apparently I tugged on it. I didn't tug it, I just stroked it and said it was awesome and he laid into me. I had no chance, He punched me square on the chin."

George also opened up on his average night out, adding that he often drinks about 15 pints of beer. He said:

"Probably 15 pints. [But] I'm always on my feet. You'll never see me falling over. For longevity, I'd say I was the best drinker in the band."
