The Wanted gush about "amazing" AMAs

British boyband The Wanted have gushed about their "amazing" American Music Awards (AMAs) experience.

The five piece - comprising Max George, Nathan Sykes, Tom Parker, Jay McGuiness and Siva Kaneswara - wowed audiences at the annual music event in Los Angeles on Sunday night, and took to their Twitter page to thank fans for their continued support.

On their official band's page they wrote: "Wow! That was AMAZING!!! #AMAs (sic), before band member Sykes added:

"Just got a standing ovation at our first AMAs. I’m speechless. Thanks for all of your amazing comments. You guys are the reason we do this. We love you all :D xx (sic)."

Meanwhile Parker admitted how proud he was of the band's progress.

He said: "2 years ago we were playing school tours up and down the UK. Now we’re performing and nominated at the AMA’s #privileged.

He added: "Favourite moment of my career so far!! #AMAs."

The Wanted were nominated in the ceremony's Favourite Pop/Rock Band/Duo/Group category, but the gong was received by chart-topping band Maroon 5.
