The Wanted's Nathan Sykes says he will probably miss Summertime Ball gig

The Wanted star Nathan Sykes has admitted that the band's upcoming date at Capital FM's Summertime Ball is probably too soon for him.

The singer recently underwent vocal surgery on a hemorrhaging nodule and his recovery period is still ongoing.

The Wanted are due to perform at London's Wembley Stadium on June 9 for the annual Summertime Ball event but it seems it will come too soon for the stricken singer. He told Capital FM:

"I'd love to be there - I'd be gutted to miss it, but I've got to take each day as it comes. I have good days and bad days. I'm having speech therapy and vocal coaching to try and get the strength back."

Sykes continued: "I've got another doctors appointment this week so fingers crossed he gives us the all clear. Being in a band and being told you may never sing again is one of the most terrifying things you can hear."

Speaking about his bandmates, the 'Glad You Came' star added: "They've been obviously in America, they've been to Australia and Japan as well, so it's tough seeing them go around the world and going to all these amazing places seeing all these fans we've never met before. But obviously The Wanted has to go on. [And] while I'm here can I just say a massive thank you to all the fans, they've been incredible, literally kept me going through it."
