The Wanted: "We'd beat One Direction in a singing competition"

The Wanted have joked that they would beat One Direction in a sing-off now that that they have Nathan Sykes back in the fold.

The two boybands have been regularly sparring on Twitter and in interviews after the past few months, with some quips obviously made tongue in cheek.

Speaking to Sugarscape at this weekend's Capital FM Summertime Ball, Max George joked that they would probably beat One Direction at a singing contest with Sykes - who has recovered from a vocal operation - back in tow. He said:

"We've got Nathan [Sykes] back now so they've got no chance. Without him we were terrible, but now he's back."

The singer admitted that they would probably lose a physical contest between the two groups.

Sykes rejoined The Wanted at the Summertime Ball event, which was held at London's Wembley Stadium, after undergoing throat surgery in April.

His bandmate Jay McGuiness meanwhile recently called on the two boybands to stop their apparent feud.
