BOB DYLAN, PETER GABRIEL, SUEDE AND MANY MORE ANNOUNCED BY HOP FARM MUSIC FESTIVAL AS 1ST ACTS FOR THE FESTIVAL’S 5TH YEAR

Folk legend BOB DYLAN (UK exclusive), iconic singer-songwriter PETER GABRIEL AND THE NEW BLOOD ORCHESTRA (UK exclusive) and alt-rockers SUEDE (UK festival exclusive) are the headline acts for Vince Power’s HOP FARM MUSIC FESTIVAL 2012.

Other acts announced for Hop Farm include: DAMIEN RICE (UK festival exclusive), PRIMAL SCREAM, MY MORNING JACKET, MAXIMO PARK, PATTI SMITH AND HER BAND, THE STRANGLERS, DR JOHN AND THE LOWER 911, JOAN ARMATRADING, BILLY OCEAN, THE PSYCHEDELIC FURS, LIANNE LA HAVAS, THE JEZABELS, SLOW CLUB, BENJAMIN FRANCIS LEFTWICH, FRIGHTENED RABBIT, TOM VEK, WHITE DENIM, BEN KWELLER, LUCY ROSE, fiN, DOG IS DEAD, RACE HORSES, STEVE SMYTH, SIAN SANDERSON and LIGERS with many more to follow.
 
The festival will have 4 music stages this year including a comedy stage, Camp Acoustic stage and Buskers Boulevard as well as more new, exciting additions to be announced in due course.
 
The three-day independent festival will take place on Friday 29th, Saturday 30th June and Sunday 1st July in Paddock Wood, Kent. Maintaining its NO SPONSORSHIP, NO BRANDING ethos, the Hop Farm will be sticking to the winning formula of programming legendary artists with contemporary actswith one of the summer’s most affordable festival tickets.
 
The Hop Farm Music Festival, which last year saw the legendary Prince take to the stage along with Morrissey and Eagles, will once again have no VIP area so that all festival goers enjoy the same experience, great bands and a great time!

BOB DYLAN is an American singer-songwriter, who has released 34 albums. He has sold over 58 million albums worldwide.

PETER GABRIEL is an English singer-songwriter who rose to fame as the lead vocalist of the progressive rock group Genesis. Peter Gabriel has won six Grammy Awards, thirteen MTV Video Music Awards and was inducted in to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010.

SUEDE are an English alternative rock band from London, formed in 1989. In 1992 Suede were hailed as “The Best New Band in Britain”.

DAMIEN RICE is an Irish singer-songwriter. Rice’s debut album “O” peaked at #8 on the UK charts and remained on the chart for 97 weeks, selling 650,000 copies in the United States.

PRIMAL SCREAM are a Scottish alternative rock band formed in 1982. Over the years they have compiled a large discography, which includes 9 studio albums and 26 singles.

MY MORNING JACKET is an American rock band from Louisville, Kentucky formed in 1998.

MAXIMO PARK are an alternative rock band from Newcastle, formed in 2000. The album “Our Earthly Pleasures” peaked at #2 in the UK charts and received 2x Platinum certification.

PATTI SMITH AND HER BAND is an American singer-songwriter, poet and visual artist. Called the “Godmother of Punk” her work was a fusion of rock and poetry. In 2007 she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

THE STRANGLERS are an English punk/rock music group. They have achieved 23 UK top 40 singles and 17 top 40 albums. The Stranglers are the longest surviving and most ‘continuously successful’ band to have originated in the UK punk scene.

DR JOHN AND THE LOWER 911 is an America singer-songwriter, pianist and guitarist. Dr John has won five Grammy Awards and was inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by John Legend.

JOAN ARMATRADING is a British singer-songwriter and guitarist. She has been nominated for three Grammy Awards and twice for BRIT Awards as Best Female Artist. Joan has released 17 studio albums.

BILLY OCEAN is a British recording artist who had a number of R&B international pop hits in the 1970s and 1980s. He was the most popular British-based R&B singer-songwriter of the early to mid-1980s.

THE PSYCHEDELIC FURS are an English post-punk/New Wave band founded in 1977. Led by singer Richard Butler and his brother Tim on bass guitar, the Psychedelic Furs are one of the many acts spawned from the British post-punk scene.

LIANNE LA HAVAS is an English folk and soul singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. In December 2011, the BBC announced that she had been nominated for the BBC’s Sound of 2012 poll.

THE JEZABELS are a four-piece musical group from Sydney. They do not fit in to a specific genre but are described as a blend of Alternative Rock, Indie Rock and Disco Pop.

SLOW CLUB are an English folk rock duo formed in Sheffield in 2006. Slow Club are notable for their use of unusual objects as percussion instruments, such asglass bottles and chairs.

BENJAMIN FRANCIS LEFTWICH is an English singer-songwriter from York. He has released one album, which peaked at #35 in the UK charts.

FRIGHTENED RABBIT are a Scottish indie rock band from Selkirk, formed in 2003. They have released three studio albums.

TOM VEK is a self-taught multi-instrumental musician. Born in London, he was signed to the small label Tummy Touch Records in 2001, having spent the previous 8 years writing and recording in his parent’s garage.

WHITE DENIM is a four-piece rock band from Austin, Texas. They have released five studio albums since 2008.

BEN KWELLER is an American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from San Francisco. He has been recording music since 1993.

LUCY ROSE is an English singer-songwriter from Warwickshire. She contributed vocals on the Bombay Bicycle Club albums Flaws and A Different Kind of Fix.

DOG IS DEAD is a five-piece indie band from West Bridgford, Nottingham who have described their music as an original blend of harmonious, indie-pop in the disco, with a cheeky hint of jazz.

SIAN SANDERSON is a singer-songwriter hailing from Weybridge.
