Music fans rally to 'voice their support' for the 2012 Barclaycard Mercury Prize.

To mark the 2012 Barclaycard Mercury Prize and the 12 shortlisted artists, fans are being called to show their support for the Barclaycard Mercury Prize in a totally new and unique way.

Launching today, the ‘Voice Your Support’ website is giving music fans the chance to show support for the Barclaycard Mercury Prize shortlisted artists in a totally innovative way. Using proprietary technology the website will convert tweets of support into a vocal audio track with each of the shortlisted acts receiving a vinyl record cut with their best 500 tweets.

Gary Twelvetree, Global Brand Director at Barclaycard, said “Everyone knows the excitement you feel when you discover a great album and the first thing you want to do is tell all your friends. Through ‘Voice Your Support’ we are giving music fans an amazing way to show their enthusiasm for their favourite shortlisted album by combining two technologies separated by 100 years. Twitter, the communication tool of today, and the vinyl record, which forever altered music. With ‘Voice Your Support’ we’re showing our appreciation to the 12 best British albums of the year by giving music fans the chance to say thank you and offer them something back”.

The Barclaycard Mercury Prize ‘Voice Your Support’ website is live from today until 5th November. To get involved go to barclaycard.co.uk/voiceyoursupport
