Sir Tom Jones has lauded Rita Ora's performance on The Voice.

The singer is a new addition to the coaching panel of the BBC One TV talent show.

They have started filming its upcoming series and long-standing coach Jones told reporters at the BBC Music Awards on Thursday (December 11) that his new colleague is doing well.

The crooner said: "Rita is great, she's fresh and she's what's happening now.

"She fills that seat very well, because I think that's the hardest seat when a lady has to fill that, because there's three fellas there and one girl. So that's a big chair for her to fill, and she's filling it really great, she's in there. 

"Her personality is coming across. Jessie J's personality came across, Kylie Minogue's personality and now Rita's coming across, so it's different because they're three different people."

Jones and Ora are joined by will.i.am and Ricky Wilson on the panel.

The new series of The Voice is expected to air in the UK in January.
