Travis Barker opens up to Rolling Stone

Blink 182's drummer turned solo artist Travis Barker has opened up in a telling interview with Rolling Stone.

He revealed that the possibility of recording his own album, which is due for release on March 15, was a daunting prospect after his crash and near brush with death:

"Honestly, I never thought the album would be finished,"

"For a while after my accident, I was just recovering. No one really thought I would be able to play drums after all the surgeries and everything. That was always on my mind. Once I was in the studio, it was like, 'I can walk now, I can play the drums still. I have to finish this.'"

Barker also explained that his recovery took a lot longer than people thought:

"It was sketchy, so I came a long way. And mentally I was a basket case,"

"It was a big amount of time to get off of 20 medications that they had me on, and then physically getting in shape. It was heavy."

It will be a busy year for the iconic percussionist with the release of his debut solo record, a forthcoming tour with Lil Wayne and both the tour and new album with Blink 182.
