17 APRIL 2020 (TORONTO, ON) – 6x JUNO Award winning, arena-rock band, and proud YMCA members, Arkells have teamed up with the YMCA of Hamilton|Burlington|Brantford to help support the YMCA’s launch of new virtual programming.

With people across communities doing their part to stay home and flatten the curve, the YMCA has launched their first-ever Virtual YMCA; ywearehere.ca which brings YMCA programs and services directly to people from the convenience of their homes.
To support this initiative, Arkells have designed a limited edition Arkells x YMCA vintage inspired T-shirt with 100% of proceeds from each t-shirt directly supporting the YMCA’s virtual programming for the most vulnerable community members during this time.

“I’m a proud member of the Y,” affirms Arkells frontman, Max Kerman. “I use their facilities when I’m at home and when we’re on tour. It’s a place where I can feel connected to every corner of the community. Everyone is an equal at the Y, and we’re proud to support a place that cares for our most vulnerable neighbours. Our own Mike D made the design - as he does with all our band apparel - if you like fresh swag and supporting a good cause then this shirt has you covered.”

Shirts are available for purchase online at ywearehere.ca, and via arkellsmusic.com/store & ship across Canada and internationally.

The Virtual Y includes a collection of YMCA resources designed to support people of all ages and abilities in spirit, mind and body including free online fitness classes for adults, children and seniors, learning resources and children’s activities from YMCA Child Development experts, wellness supports including guided meditations and self-care resources, information on accessing YMCA employment services and immigrant services program, as well as a collection of the YMCAs’ favourite free online resources including virtual tours, music and cooking classes.

“Our collective efforts to help stop the spread of COVID-19 comes with added social isolation for many people right now. The fact is this can be even more challenging for individuals and families facing financial challenges,” said Jim Commerford, President & CEO, YMCA of Hamilton|Burlington|Brantford. “Our Virtual Y is part of our COVID-19 response effort at the YMCA and a means for us to give back to our communities in some small way. We appreciate the support of Arkells and their fans who are helping to support this work in our communities.”

The Virtual Y already includes dozens of free fitness classes and children’s activities and the YMCA will continue to add new content and resources over the coming days and weeks.
