21 MAY 2020 (TORONTO, ON) - Berlin-based composer and pianist Lambert is set to follow up his stunning ‘True’ album of last year, with an exquisite new EP ‘Alone II’ via Mercury KX on July 3rd. Listen to ‘Gdansk’ from the forthcoming EP BELOW.

The track was inspired by an encounter in the city of the same name involving linguistics and beer, as Lambert explains:

“It was very cold when I went to Gdansk by train. I played a concert and after that I met an old and very friendly beer brewer, who had come to the show with his wife. She was taking care of his beer consumption, by always drinking more than half of his glass. He gave me his private card AND his business card! He said, if I ever need good beer in Gdansk I should call him anytime, even late at night. After that he told me a story about his trip to Rome 25 years ago. He had never been to Italy before, so he decided to buy a dictionary for the 30 hours bus trip. He read it from start to finish on that ride and when he arrived in Rome he was able to speak Italian fluently. His wife confirmed this story and I was very impressed. And I came to understand: With such a talent in learning languages, it made total sense to me, that this man had become a beer brewer. Beer drinking is probably the most unifying language in the world! With this gift, I am sure, he masters the linguistic core of beer drinking (the brewing!) better than anyone else in the world. Next time I am in Gdansk and I am thirsty late at night, I will definitely call him!”

Lambert recently worked with up and coming film director Tom Oxenham to create “Becoming Lambert’, a mockumentary short film, incorporating music from his stunning album True (out now on Mercury KX). Watch the Mockumentary here.

Lambert is a singular talent whose bold vision and compositional flair is informed as much by pop music and wider culture as it is by any classical repertoire. From 2017’s stunning ‘Sweet Apocalypse’, a masterful collection of orchestral works concerned with locating moments of beauty amid the dystopian future humanity is fast racing towards, to last year’s ‘True’ album and the haunting, delicate ‘Alone’ EP, Lambert has created his own, spellbinding sonic language that stirs the soul and inspires the mind. By turns hypnotic, sombre, and enchanting, he excels at creating moods and mesmerising the listener; a deep sense of drama often gives way to an enigmatic playfulness, colourful melodies skipping lightly through his songs.

‘Beautiful’ - The Independent

‘This music is truly enchanting, playful and sombre, often composed of both, humour and drama, with a deep-focused emphasis on execution and sense… where less is undoubtedly, greatly, much more.’ - Headphone Commute
