28 OCTOBER 2020 (TORONTO, ON) – Today, R&B singer-songwriter Savannah Ré shares the soulful slow jam "Solid", the newest single and video off her upcoming debut EP Opia, via Universal Music Canada, the country’s leading music company. “Solid” continues to showcase Savannah Ré’s talent for authentic and oftentimes vulnerable lyrics, breathed to life by her effortless vocals: “I need you to be solid. Promise, that you won’t bend or break, promise to me that you’ll stay”.

Filmed in her home city of Toronto and directed by fellow Scarborough native and Canadian Screen Award winner Alicia K. Harris (Koffee, Jessie Reyez), the official video for “Solid” is a stunning portrayal of the fragility and resilience in relationships. Exploring the ambiguous space that comes at the end of a relationship, the feeling of being stuck in an emotional purgatory, the video expresses the notion that only solid relationships can overcome grief and be revived.

Of the song/video Savanah Ré says:

“Normally, YogiTheProducer and I just go cook up in the basement with no expectation and see what happens but for this session, I knew I wanted to make something heartfelt. We started out with the loop you hear throughout the song played by our friend Kevinshideout and I just started freestyling - which I pretty much do to write everything. My writing process is pretty free flowing in that sense; inspiration can come from anywhere.

“Within that process, this message sort of started coming out, just about loyalty and asking the right questions within love. It was a message of sincerity which is why the chorus comes across as a plea rather than a demand; to stay down with each other through whatever may come, through thick and thin. We really took our time with this song over the year to create it.”

Produced by YogiTheProducer (Kehlani, Jessie Reyez, Joyner Lucas) with additional production by OVO alumni Akeel Henry (Ty Dolla $ign, Shawn Mendes, Roy Woods), “Solid” follows Ré’s previous two singles off her upcoming debut EP. “Homies” and “Where You Are” - which have accumulated 1.7M global streams and counting - have garnered critical support from esteemed outlets such as HYPEBAE, Complex, and CBC Music who have touted Savannah Ré as a rising star that should be on everyone’s radar. With “Solid” now offering the third glimpse into her debut EP, anticipation continues to build with ELLE Canada including Opia on their Pop Culture Radar list and NOW Toronto naming it one of the 20 new albums to listen to this Fall.
