On June 12, 2018, Urban Tracks recording artist, Jennie Johnson will release a documentary detailing the series of events that inspired her to write her latest EP, Note To Self.

The documentary, also titled “Note To Self”, covers Jennie’s struggles from childhood to adulthood. Jennie candidly speaks about growing up in an abusive home, spending years in foster care, dealing with family suicide, abusive relationships, teen pregnancy, and homelessness. The video highlights how she used music to heal the scars of this traumatic past.

With the help of platinum producer/remixer and BMI-award winning songwriter, Rodney K . Jackson (Cece Peniston, Madonna), Jennie began to unravel the pains and triumphs of her life in music. The five- song EP provides the soundtrack to Jennie’s story. Tracks such as “Carried Away” (dealing with relationship issues), “No More” (domestic violence), “Fine Without You” (self love), “I’m On Fire” (self confidence), and “Note To Self” (self discovery and healing). Jennie crafted her songs with help of veteran songwriters Dre LeSean, Jimmie Alston, Shantal Reed, Steven Jackson, Rodney Jackson, and Kenneth Smith.

On that same day, Jennie will also debut her second single, “I’m On Fire”, a feel-good 60s styled song written by Johnson, R.K. Jackson, J. Alston, S. Reed, S. Jackson, and K. Smith. The single is a prelude to the EP release on June 22, 2018. The five-song set will be available on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, and most digital outlets. Distributed by Urban Tracks (The Orchard/Sony). A portion of proceeds will be donated to The National Network To End Domestic Violence and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
