Victoria Beckham insists she is her own "biggest critic" so doesn't concentrate on proving others wrong.

The former singer rose to international stardom as one fifth of the Spice Girls and has since gone on to run a hugely successful fashion empire.

Beckham is modest about her achievements in the famously fickle fashion world and says she doesn't care for defying those who initially doubted her.

Speaking to the UK edition of Glamour magazine, the star said: "I never set out to prove anyone wrong. I'm my own biggest critic and I set myself challenges to overcome and goals to achieve. But of course the fact that people like what I do is great!"

Beckham was recently named Woman of the Decade by Glamour.

The 39-year-old raises four children with her soccer star husband David and says she admires fellow mothers who can juggle their work life with having a family.

She gushed: "Is it a cliché to say that everyone woman who either looks after her family or works, or does both, is someone I respect and admire? That's really how I feel. I'm constantly inspired by women everywhere."
